The Recipe
2 teaspoons castor oil
2 teaspoons mineral oil
1 teaspoon lanolin
optional: 15-20 drops essential oil of choice
With four simple ingredients, you can create your own hair pomade that works just like that expensive, and most likely chemical laden counterpart from the store. This was what I made for Big Man for his homemade Christmas gift and he loves it. When he runs out, he'll have to learn to make his own:)
The Recipe
1 oz. beeswax
2 teaspoons castor oil 2 teaspoons mineral oil 1 teaspoon lanolin optional: 15-20 drops essential oil of choice
Melt the beeswax, castor oil and lanolin over very low heat. Remove from heat and add the mineral oil, stirring well. If you choose to add essential oils, add them now. You can find a list of which essential oils are good for the hair, here.
Stir in the essential oils and pour into a container of your choice and let harden before use. I used these cute tins that I purchased from Bulk Herb Store. Big Man likes his pomade to be thick so if you want a softer texture just use less beeswax.
Where to Purchase These Ingredients
You can get the oils, beeswax and tins from several places;Mountain Rose Herbs, Bulk Apothecary, Brambleberry, and Amazon.

Can you use another oil for the mineral oil and the lanolin? Would love to make this!

I would imagine one could change out the Mineral Oil with Argan Oil (not the cooking one, the hair/skin one) just fine and get the benefits of that oil over the nonbenefits of mineral oil.
