Cinnamomum zeylanicum
Cinnamon is one of the oils mentioned several times in the bible and is known as a biblical oil. This was also one of the protective oils used by the infamous "Four Thieves". As you can see from the list of properties above, cinnamon is a very powerful essential oil making it versatile and can be used for just about anything. The only caution with cinnamon is it can be irritating to the skin and membranes due to the high amount of phenols contained in it, so use with caution and dilute well.

These are a few uses from personal testimonies of essential oil users:

- Cellulite, varicose and spider veins

Caution
Cinnamon is by no means a gentle essential oil, it will burn on contact with skin so always use diluted in a carrier oil. I have even had it burn my lips when mixed in water as a gargle so be careful. This oil is so strong that it can irritate the nostrils when inhaled so I wouldn't inhale from the bottle, just use the other diffusing methods as outlined under All About Essential Oils. Avoid use during pregnancy. Personally I prefer to utilize the benefits of cinnamon as part of a blend.
